Names, 1...
If you've looked at my Twitter account, or my Pinterest account, you'll notice a slight mismatch, name wise. They are in the name of 'Debbie Lough', whereas, obviously, plastered all over the website is the name 'Deborah Walton'... People tend to be confused by it (nightmare when it comes to Christmas cards!!).
The first name is easily dealt with - my name is actually Deborah (and pronounce with three syllables, like in the Pulp song*). People I know call me Debbie, and I tend to sign things as Debbie.
The surname is really just as simple to explain. My own surname is legally Lough. It's an old Northumbrian surname, and I happen to like it a lot, even though few people can spell it, and even fewer can pronounce it (it's pronounce 'loff', to rhyme with 'cough'). So a few years ago, when I got married, I decided to keep the name I was born with, instead of changing my name.
When I started 'millining', I decided to use what would have been my married name (had I changed it), as my professional name.
See? Seemples!

Names, 2...
I'm working on my 4b diffusion range, which will be out there soon (we're busily adding things to the website and etsy as fast as our scuffed little hands can manage it!) - and I stumbled across the names issue. Most milliners and designers have such fabulous names for pieces - I struggle with names... I think visually, you see. I can sketch out designs for hat at rates of dozens an hour. OK, some of those will be rubbish, but you take the point. I don't think in words, I think in pictures. Giving things names that suit them is really hard.
And that's why I've wussed out on the names for 4b, in the same way I wussed out for some Autumn Winter pieces, and just decided to number them!

And the really cool bit...
London Hat Week!!
A new event - this is the first one, and it'll be running from 6th - 12th March, in (surprisingly enough), London!
A small selection of my pieces will be there - more details on that later, but it's very exciting!
Toodles for now :)
