I thought I'd share the video of our graduation, which was back in December, but the video of which I just found on youtube last week (before I got flu and food poisoning, bleurgh).
Anyway, our keynote speaker was Sir John Hegerty - he was the advertising man who put Nick Kamen in that launderette in (and out) of a pair of Levi's. And then Brad Pitt a few years later. He brought 'Vorsrpung Durch Technik' into the English language, and he was responsible for Flat Eric. Suffice it to say he knows a bit about having a creative career.
And that was what his speech was all about. I'm sharing it here, because he gave an excellent talk, and it's well worth a listen. I particularly liked the it where he said he confiscates the headphones that he sees his staff wearing (because it blocks you off from the world, and you can't have a creative career if you're in a bubble). And the fact that you don't turn creativity on and off, it just is.
He starts at about the 15 minute mark.
Oh, and if you *really* want to see it, the millinery girls are up first in the certificate awarding. (And yes, mainly being beyond our early 20s, we all got the gag about moveable type!)
